Live Oak Middle School Ed Trust Process

In 2008-2009 Live Oak Middle School was privileged to give eleven GEAR UP College Awards to our most deserving students.  In order to select the very best qualified, Live Oak had a rigorous selection process that included the following criteria:  GPA, attendance, a written essay and an oral interview. Live Oak held a three hour Essay Assistance Workshop on a Saturday morning to assist students with the writing process.  Once the paper applications were reviewed, the GEAR UP team selected our finalists and provided them with an Interview Workshop led by our district's Assistant Superintendents to give students the experience and information they would need to successfully navigate the interview by our GEAR UP panel.  Finally, after evaluating students' paper applications, essays and formal interviews, the GEAR UP team chose our top eleven students.  Live Oak is proud to have been able to present our students with a $2000.00 College Award and looks forwardo continuing to promote a college-going culture here at Live Oak.
