ADVANCEMENT VIA INDIVIDUAL DETERMINATION (AVID):
With a focus on student achievement, schoolwide improvement and working with the adults that influence middle school students, collaborating at the school site was a natural evolution for AVID and State GEAR UP. Both programs provide staff development and support programs for teachers, counselors and site teams: the adults that influence middle school students. There is exciting potential for continued learning across programs.

COLLEGE BOARD
In partnership with the College Board, various Pre-AP workshops are offered for teachers at GEAR UP schools. The School Leadership Team selects the topic for the Pre-AP workshop from the College Board menu. GEAR UP schools in the same regional vicinity may collaborate to determine a mutually convenient workshop date and place. The purpose of the Pre-AP sessions is to equip all middle and high school teachers with the strategies and tools they need to engage their students in active, high-level learning, thereby ensuring that every middle and high school student develops the skills, habits of mind, and concepts needed to succeed in college. http://apcentral.collegeboard.com/apc/public/preap/index.html |
