The diminution of school counselors and counseling in California over the last decade presents a huge challenge to achieving the goal of preparing more students, particularly from African-American, Latino, Native American, and low-income communities, for enrollment and success in college. To address the California Education Round Table Intersegmental Coordinating Committee (ICC) in conjunction with a statewide network of higher education organizations convened four Effective Tools for Preparing Students for Access and Success in Higher Education conferences in the winter of 2013 across the state.
To further disseminate the resource tools and scale the strategies featured at these conferences as well as other resources, the conference conveners assembled this Resource Guide. Its purpose is to ensure that:
More secondary school and higher educational staff are aware and knowledgeable of these resource tools; and, Secondary schools, Academic Preparation Program staff, and community organizations adopt and adapt these tools to expand the efficacy and effectiveness of their college advising and guidance with students.
The first copy of the Resource Guide is free. Anything over that amount is $1.00/Guide. We do not accept credit cards and must have a P.O. number or payment in full before shipping. There is no tax or shipping charge – the ICC is a non-profit organization.
